Festivals in Bamberg
Bamberg zaubert
Once a year street artists, magicians and acrobats come to Bamberg and show their skills on the streets of the city centre (“Bamberg zaubert” means “Bamberg is doing magic”). There is no entrance fee, and the artists will collect donations after their performances.
Short Film Festival
Short films are films that are less than 30 minutes long. At the Bamberg Short Film Festival (Kurzfilmfestival), short films are shown for a whole week. You can buy a ticket for every single event where several films are shown in a row.
Literature Festival
The Bamberg Literature Festival offers many different presentations and readings by authors and other events related to reading and books. The festival goes on for several days. The goal is to showcase books and authors and promote a love of literature and writing and reading.
Kontakt - The Cultural Festival
Kontakt is an association that organizes culture in Bamberg. It is mainly about music, but also about visual and creative arts, theatre and discussions. Kontakt repeatedly uses vacant buildings to make a space for culture. The Kontakt Festival is not happening right now because of Corona. Kontakt nevertheless organises culture, such as the “Nachsommer an der Erbaspitze” (End of summer event at Erba-Island), where many concerts take place for three weeks in autumn.
